EXCURSIONS WALKING In the region of Ait Said you can go for walks in the valley, the mountains or the neighbouring villages. The local people are friendly, the landscape beautiful en the water of the shallow M’Goun refreshing. For day-walks or longer, we have experienced guides available. Accompanied mule rides can be arranged.
BIRD WATCHING Ornithologists can follow their hearts desire at the other side of the river facing Kasbah Belber. From a thousand bird species that North Africa counts, half can be found here. | DAY EXCURSIONS Kasbah Belber organises excursions by taxi, minibus or 4x4, depending on the budget and number of passengers.
Gorge of Dadès Day trip by car along the fertile Dadès Valley that cuts through a desert like plateau at 1000 to 1500 meters high, an oasis full of fig-trees, walnut- and almond-trees. Via Boumalne, a spectacular route with hairpin bends to the highly situated Kasbah in the Gorge of the Dadès, with afterwards a pick-nick in a lovely oasis by the river. |  | TINERHIR PALM FOREST Halfway between de Dadès Valley and the Tafifalt, the palm tree forest at the foot of rigid mountains is fed by the Todra River in the north, the Dadès in the south. Covering 12 km in length, the Tinerhir palm wood still has ksour (fortified villages), with the typical small towers decorating the edge of the roofs, and many an earth-coloured kasbah! Across the other side lies a ghost town, where previously 50 to a 100 families used to live. | ThE TODRA GORGE The climbing road to the gorge of the Todra reveals exciting views. Through a geological crack with vertical cliff walls 300 meters high, the most Impressive in Morocco, the river Todra ripples to Tinerhir. Along the road the driver helps with shopping in the souk of small picturesque towns or in tiny shops and finds a nice shady place for the pick-nick. |  | TWO DAY DESERT TRIP The Draa Valley and Merzouga
Beautiful route through the Draa valley to the gorge of the Draa, later visiting Rissani, Erfoud and Merzouga. Costs around 120 euro car included. In the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi you can go for the dromedary-experience and watch the sunset and sunrise in the desert. Evening meal served in a nomad camp and sleeping under the Milky Way or in a Berber tent. (190 km one way). | MORE DAY TREKKINGS
T he Jbel Saghro is part of the Anti Atlas. The mountains run slowly towards the desert. Other explorations for up to 10 days can be arranged from Kasbah Belber. The High Atlas has a few new, rough and non-tarmac roads called pistes, to places that recently still could only be reached by donkeys. The guests are welcome to suggest other trajects for excursions or walks. You ask, we organize it for you. | 
 MOORISH CITIES Ouarzazate is located at 1160 meters high at the meeting of two valleys, the Draa en the Dadès and once a strategic point in the history of Morocco on the most important route between the Atlas Mountains and the desert. In Ait Benhaddou and area hundreds of films were made amongst which Sheltering Sky in 1990 by Bertolucci and Kundun 1997 by Martin Scorsese. The Atlas Film Studio’s are usually open for public. Ouarzazate also has an interesting spice trade. |
